About
An editor's view of Britain's angel market.
The Carry is an independent weekly newsletter for serious UK angel investors. The market gets covered plenty, but usually in a way that keeps founders and funds happy. We write for the person reading it - the one actually putting the money in.
Each Wednesday you'll get an independent read on the rounds that matter, the psychology behind the deals that close, and what the latest moves on SEIS, EIS and tax policy actually mean for angels. It's reporting and editorial judgment, not advice, and not the consensus line everyone else is running.
Who reads it
Active angels, syndicate leads, family-office principals, and the operators-turned-investors who want a clear view of the UK early-stage market, not a careful one.
Who writes it
Written and edited from London by Imra, an operator turned angel investor. Independent of any fund, syndicate, accelerator, or investment platform.

How The Carry is made
The facts come from the source. Every figure is checked at the record that issued it, GOV.UK, HMRC or the FCA, before it is written and again before it is sent. Nothing is quoted from memory or lifted from another outlet's summary.
Independent, in the literal sense. No fund attached, no syndicate, and no commission on any deal we cover. The judgement is not for sale, and it is written for the people writing the first cheques rather than the press releases.
Wrong gets fixed. Every reply reaches the editor directly and is read. When something is wrong, it is corrected in the open, not buried.
Some weeks we hold. When nothing clears the bar, nothing is sent. The Carry would rather skip a Wednesday than pad one.
What this isn't
The Carry does not provide investment advice. It is editorial journalism on the UK angel market, written for an informed audience. Decisions about specific investments are yours alone; always seek qualified advice before committing capital.
